Former Sunrisers Hyderabad opener David Warner has taken an indirect dig at SRH head coach Tom Moody through replying one of the fan tweets regarding the IPL 2022 auction. The fan requested the Sunrisers Hyderabad coach to have a good IPL 2022 auction, probably after having a disappointing last season. However, David Warner took a cheeky dig at Tom Moody by replying to the fan, saying he doesn’t think so that Sunrisers Hyderabad will have a good auction.
Tom Moody had taken to Twitter, congratulating Australia on a stellar win over England in the Ashes third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. According to him, England team has a lot of problems and the cracks are hidden by the brilliance of Joe Root and James Anderson. He tweeted, “A total demolition job from Australia.
England have had their gaping holes in test cricket covered for too long by two superstars, these are exposed away from home! #Ashes — Tom Moody (@TomMoodyCricket) December 28, 2021.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad replied to David Warner’s comment by tweeting, “Congrats on the Ashes win Davey – Looks like you are back to form and enjoying the after party! On the other hand we hope you have a good auction!”
David Warner has been a loyal servant to the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise and also took them to the title in the IPL 2016 season. Being a prolific run-scorer for them over the years, Warner many a-times was a lone man fighting for SRH in games. However, the IPL 2021 season was a different one and it led to strained relations between him and the coaching staff.
SRH lost six of their opening seven games and were rooted to the bottom of the table. This is when Tom Moody and others in the SRH think tank took a bold decision of axing David Warner from the captaincy and replacing him with Kane Williamson. Slowly, Warner was phased out of the SRH side and also dropped on the bench. The relation between SRH board and David Warner went to a point of no return and Warner’s frustration through his tweets just shows the same.
