The former Indian team opening batsman, Sunil Gavaskar, believes it will be the most difficult match for Punjab Kings to win the title in the 15th edition of the IPL. The fans are expecting something more from the new franchises, i.e., Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, who have already succeeded in receiving a good response from the people, and have grabbed so much attention, which has increased the expectation of people to stay longer in the game.
Gavaskar says that I don’t feel the Punjab Kings will be active in the game this year, as I say there will be less or no impact from the Punjab Kings this year. Each team has managed to select such brilliant players in their team, and some are the highest run scorers who were signed by the franchise in the IPL’s mega auction, and some are also champions and rank holders in their teams. So I have fewer expectations from the players of the Punjab Kings. And when there are fewer expectations, players will feel less pressure, and this will help them generate a higher result in the game.
Punjab Kings have expressed interest in signing Jonny Bairstow, Kagiso Rabada, Liam Livingstone, and Sharukh Khan at the mega auction. Apart from this, the franchise also picked an opening batsman in their squad, Shikhar Dhawan, along with the captain, Mayank Agrawal, who has given an average performance for the Indian Cricket team. Gavaskar says that I don’t think Punjab Kings will win this year’s trophy as they don’t have many attractive players as compared to other teams in the IPL, but the one beneficial thing is that there is less pressure on Punjab players because of that, which may be helpful for players to change the game and lift their team ahead in the competition. The players of the Punjab Franchise will be free to perform in the game.
This is the T20 competition and players should have to prepare to create consistancy in the game. They should not be lower in the game. They must have to improve their game accordingly for better reach. The Punjab Kings are one of the teams who didn’t win in the IPL and now their chances are less as compared to other teams in the IPL 2022, said Gavaskar.
The IPL 2022’s first opening match will be on March 26th, 2022 between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, and Punjab Kings will begin their first match on March 27th, 2022 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
