Gujarat Titans opening batter Shubman Gill revealed his greatest inspiration from childhood to be the legendary Sachin Tendulkar ahead of the encounter against Lucknow Super Giants. Gill hasn’t had the best of times in the last few games for the Gujarat Titans however, in the previous game he came strong and scored a half-century in a losing cause for the side.
The youngster has scored 370 runs in 12 games so far this season after being drafted in by the Gujarat Titans for INR eight Crores ahead of the mega auction. He has always been deemed as the future of the Indian side and has played some match-winning knocks at the start of this season. However, it will be very important for him to stick to his good form and score as many runs as possible to ensure that he makes a statement to the selectors while the Indian side is being picked up.
Gill noted that his greatest inspiration while growing up was the legendary Sachin Tendulkar who is currently with the Mumbai Indians as a mentor. He added that once Tendulkar retired, he started to understand the game a lot more and noted about being a fan of Virat Kohli since then. The 22-year-old still has a few league games to add up to his run tally in the tournament and with Gujarat Titans likely to qualify for the playoffs, he might get a few more games as well. “(Greatest inspiration) While growing up, it was Sachin sir. Once he retired and once I started to understand the game a bit more, I was always a fan of Virat Bhai,” Gill said.
