India on Sunday unveiled their roster for the three-match ODI series against South Africa that will begin on Thursday, once again leaving out young explosive batsman Prithvi Shaw. Later in the day, the 22-year-old posted a mysterious message on his Instagram stories that has now gone popular on social media. He stated in the message posted to Instagram stories, “Don’t trust their words, trust their actions, since actions will explain why words are meaningless.”
Shaw last represented India in July 2021, during their tour of Sri Lanka. He made his international debut with his aggressive hitting at the top of the order and has continuously displayed his skills in both domestic and Indian Premier League games. Despite a bright beginning to his international career, he was forced to serve a lengthy suspension for taking illegal substances. Since that time, he has struggled to regain his place in the Indian team. Only five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20I have he participated in for India. His highest score in ODIs is 49, but in the longest format, he has amassed one century and two half-centuries.
His one and only T20I game featured a golden duck. He scored 77 off 48 deliveries in his final encounter, which was for India A versus New Zealand A in the 50-over series last month, to help his team win the match and the series. However, India chose to bat first against South Africa with players like stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan, in-form Shubman Gill, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
