The seasoned right-hander attempted a scoop shot but failed to execute it well, leading Shami to reject him.
Jasprit Bumrah’s back ailment forced him out of the T20 World Cup, thus Shami was selected as his replacement. Shami was initially assigned to the roster of standby players, but the management quickly opted to include him in the starting lineup due to his extensive experience. The management chose Shami since they were looking for a like-for-like replacement as well.
As they practised in the nets on Sunday in preparation for the warm-up games, Rohit Sharma and company could be seen working up a sweat. Face Monday, October 17, they will take on the hosts and reigning champions Australia. The Men in Blue are in in excellent shape after winning back-to-back T20I series against Australia and South Africa. India must quickly become accustomed to the fast-paced pitches in Australia because it is important to adjust as soon as possible.
Additionally, India competed in two unofficial warm-up games against Western Australia XI, winning the first game but losing the second one without players like skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Mohammed Siraj’s arrival in Brisbane earlier on Sunday to join the reserves has also helped Team India. The India team, lead by Rohit Sharma, will aim to outperform last year’s performance and win the major competition this year in Australia.
