After India’s semifinal elimination from the T20 World Cup, star batsman Virat Kohli wrote a touching letter on Friday. The tournament’s top scorer, Virat Kohli, collected 296 runs from six games at an average of 98.66. In the competition, Kohli scored four half-centuries, including a 50 against England in the semi-final, which India lost by ten wickets on Thursday at the Adelaide Oval. While the players return home with a lot of “disappointment,” Kohli claimed on Twitter that the team can learn from the competition and come back stronger.

“We leave Australian shores short of achieving our dream and with disappointment in our hearts but we can take back a lot of memorable moments as a group and aim to get better from here on,” Kohli tweeted. KL Rahul, the opening batsman for India, who had trouble with the bat throughout the competition, also expressed his sadness over the team’s elimination with a “heartbreaking” emoji.

After India’s chances of making it to the final were destroyed by England, Suryakumar Yadav, India’s second-highest run scorer after Virat Kohli, too wrote an emotional letter. “Hurtful loss. Forever grateful to our fans who create electrifying atmosphere, no matter where we play. Thankful for the undying support for each other, proud of the hardwork put in by this team & support staff. Proud to play for my country. We will reflect &come back stronger!” Suryakumar tweeted.
