The Jos Buttler-led England squad was back in action in an ODI against Australia in Adelaide just a few days after winning the 2022 T20 World Cup. Despite Dawid Malan’s 128-ball 134, the England team lost the match by six wickets. When batting first, England scored 287-9. With 3.1 overs remaining, Australia reached the goal virtually unscathed. During the game, Buttler was spotted playing mind tricks with Australia’s in-form Cameron Green, the batter. During Australia’s chase, Green attempted to pursue England spinner Liam Dawson on the third ball of the 41st over.

He approached the track, but his connection was poor. Buttler was overheard saying, “Good to see someone playing a shot, Daws,” by the stump mic. The following ball, Green blocked a Dawson delivery, and Buttler was heard yelling, “Chasing the ink, Dawes,” and “big auction coming up.” Buttler was referring to the Kochi, India, and auction for the IPL 2023, which will take place on December 23. With his skills, Green might be a desirable choice for the franchises bidding in the auction.
