At the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia’s seasoned opener David Warner, playing in his 100th Test, broke a nearly three-year drought by scoring a century against South Africa. After entering the game under pressure following a lean spell, the 36-year-old reached 8,000 Test runs on the way to three figures, becoming the eighth Australian to do so. In an aggressive 144-ball innings on day two of the second Test, he disproved the naysayers and scored his first century since January 2020. He smashed eight fours during the innings. He punched the air in celebration as he brought up his 25th century with a boundary.
Following is how Twitter users responded to Warner’s century:
One of the greatest openers of our times! So a century for David Warner in his 100th test! As Sehwag predicted in 2010 IIRC, David Warner would be a way better test batsman than a limited overs batsman, what a prophecy! #DavidWarner #AUSvsSA

Warner had insisted before the match that “you’re never out of form”. “They’re not the words that I use and they’re definitely not used in our change rooms,” he said. “It’s about (being) out of runs.”
