During the ODI series in Bangladesh, the seasoned Team India opener seemed to be nothing more than a ghost of his former self. He managed to get through three innings, recording pitiful scores of 7, 8, and 3. When Ishan Kishan made the fastest double century in an ODI, it appeared like Shikhar Dhawan’s days as a professional cricketer were numbered.
Former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar has praised Shikhar Dhawan highly for his contributions to the Indian squad throughout the years and believes that Dhawan is still very much alive. Bangar mentioned that Dhawan is one of India’s best left-handed hitters, which can be advantageous for him.
“Shikhar has been a fabulous performer not only in white-ball cricket but also in test cricket because of the kind of average he has there. So he is a phenomenal servant of Indian cricket and that’s where you do not want to count out such players. He’s done all the things right which will mean that if there is a vacancy at the top of the order, being a left-hander is always going to work to his advantage and that’s where you do not want to count out a player of Shikhar’s quality,” said Sanjay.
