Pant was a member of the Indian side that defeated Bangladesh in a Test series by a score of 2-0 earlier this month. With scores of 46 and 93 on the first and second Tests, respectively, he had made an impression. He had been scheduled to join the National Cricket Academy for a strength and conditioning program in preparation for Australia’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy match in February but was recently cut from the T20I team named for the series against Sri Lanka.
