The just concluded T20I series was won 2-1 by the Men in Blue at home to start the new year off strong. The young team performed well overall under Hardik Pandya’s leadership. Even though they lost the second T20I match, they still learned a lot from the three games.
Umran Malik stood out as one of the team’s many young players when it came to handling the ball. Despite scoring runs, the speedster provided India with significant breakthroughs over the course of the three games. In the second T20I, he set a new record for the quickest delivery by an Indian bowler, with a 155kmph delivery. With seven wickets from the three games, he concluded the T20I series as the series’ leading wicket-taker, and veteran India cricketer Ajay Jadeja was all praise for the young Jammu Kashmir player who is doing everything in his power to secure a permanent spot in the Indian team.
“The way he is bowling at the moment, running in, there isn’t a bowler in India that I have seen for a very long time. (Javagal) Srinath was the last one that I remember. This fellow has something special, so try and use him as he is. When the tail comes, you bring Umran Malik. 8/10 times he’ll get you three wickets there and finish the game”, he told Cricbuzz.
