In the third and final One-Day International against Sri Lanka on Sunday, Virat Kohli hit his 46th ODI century, continuing his impressive run in international cricket. The right-handed hitter pounded the bowlers all over the park throughout his tempestuous innings, smashing eight huge sixes and 13 fours. With opener Shubman Gill, who scored 116 off 97 balls for his second ODI century, they combined for a 131-run stand. Along with cameos from captain Rohit Sharma (42 off 49 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (38 off 32 balls), India’s two tonnes in their innings allowed them to amass a massive 390/5 in 50 overs. The visitors were subsequently bowled out for just 73 runs, giving the Men in Blue a 317-run victory.
During his brilliant innings, Kohli blasted a helicopter shot a la MS Dhoni for a six and shouted “Mahi Shot” to partner Shreyas Iyer at the other end while pumping his fist. The massive 97-meter six was hit in the third delivery of Kasun Rajitha’s 44th over of the game. A Twitter user uploaded the incredible hit’s viral videos along with the caption, “He (Kohli) said “Mahi Shot” in the end.”
