In his first game since August 2022, India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja got seven wickets against Tamil Nadu to cap off an incredible comeback.
Possibly the best all-rounder India has ever produced is Ravindra Jadeja. His statistics are remarkable in all versions of the game, both while batting and bowling. His extraordinary skill set is further enhanced by his superb fielding skills. In all three game formats, team India has relied on Jadeja as their go-to all-around player, and his absence was felt during the ICC T20 World Cup, which finished in November 2022.
Due to a knee injury, he sustained in the UAE during the 2022 Asia Cup, Jadeja has been missing from the Indian team. Since that time, he hasn’t been a member of the team, and Axar Patel has vowed to take his place. In Jadeja’s absence, Axar has established himself as a pillar of the Indian team.
But now that he is healthy again, the Saurashtra all-rounder has already participated in a match. He now serves as the captain of Saurashtra and picked up a crucial seven-wicket haul against Tamil Nadu in the second innings of the Ranji Trophy match. He wasn’t able to accomplish much with the bat as he was out quickly for only 15.
Jadeja shared a picture of the match ball and the seven-wicket haul on social media with the caption “First cherry of the season.” He began bowling immediately in the second innings, which was a wise choice as it allowed his team to dismiss the formidable Tamil Nadu batsmen for a meager total of 133.
Jadeja has been selected for the India-Australia Test series, which begins on February 9, although his participation is contingent on his physical condition. The Indian All-rounder responded, “Sure, yes, yes…” when asked if he is prepared for the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Jadeja while speaking after the end of the day’s play (Day 3) said, “Feeling very good after playing a game after a very long time. Hopefully, I am good to go now. It was tough on the first day, but as the game progressed, I started feeling better.”
