India defeated England by seven wickets in the championship match on Sunday at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, winning the inaugural U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. This was made possible by the bowlers’ outstanding bowling performance and the knocks of Gongadi Trisha and Soumya Tiwari. Shefali Verma, the captain of India, launched a stunning four off Hannah Baker’s delivery to begin their world cup-winning chase while chasing a score of 69. When Baker then defeated Shafali for 15 off of 11, she significantly improved her team’s position. After captain Grace Scrivens struck out dangerous batter Shweta Sehrawat for 5 runs off of 6 balls, England’s bowlers attempted to regain control of the game.
Next to bat was Gongadi Trisha, a right-handed batter. While Trisha performed the anchor role, Soumya Tiwari played some aggressive boundaries. India needed 21 runs in 60 balls to win after 10 overs. In order to pound Ellie Anderson for back-to-back two-fours, Gongadi Trisha then opened her hands. Alexa Stonehouse removed Gongadi Trisha from the game in the 13th over of the innings for 24 runs off 29 pitches. The first U19 Women’s T20 World Cup was won by Team India, headed by Soumya Tiwari, who also defeated England by seven wickets. The world responded on social media following the victory.

Indian bowlers totally dominated the game against England in the summit match earlier after choosing to field first. India’s first wicket came from Titas Sadhu, who bowled England’s opener Liberty Heap out for a two-ball duck.
While playing some boundary strokes, Grace Scrivens and Niamh Fiona Holland attempted to manage the strain. Holland was forced to return to the pavilion because she was unable to stand on the crease for too long. Following Holland’s wicket, England’s batters were unable to maintain their position for very long and frequently fell victim to the outstanding bowling of the Indian bowlers. India established the tone early with the new ball and regularly struck the England Women Under-19 to remove them for Parshavi Chopra, Archana Devi, and Titas Sadhu each claimed two wickets. The best-run scorer for England was Ryana Macdonald Gay, who scored 19 runs off 24 balls.
Brief score: England 69/3 (Ryana Macdonald Gay 19, Alexa Stonehouse 11; Titas Sadhu 2-6) vs India 69-3 (Soumya Tiwari 24*, Soumya Tiwari 24; Hannah Baker 1-13).
