When it comes to T20 cricket, the flamboyant Suryakumar Yadav is perhaps the first name on a team sheet. Yadav received his first opportunity to play international cricket in March 2021 after repeatedly outperforming himself in domestic cricket. He quickly took advantage of the chance and established himself as a trustworthy cricketer for India in the shortest version of the game.
Yadav has a tonne of First Class cricket experience, and more importantly, the numbers to support him. The batsman has amassed 5549 runs in 79 First Class games, but despite this, he was long forgotten in India’s red-ball strategy. But the wait was finally over as he played in his first Test against Australia. He then made history by being the first Indian cricketer to play in all three formats after turning 30. Yadav was not taken into consideration for selection despite performing admirably for Mumbai and in the Indian Premier League due to his consistency. The 32-year-old has mastered the technique over the last couple of years, though, and the team management thinks he is now prepared for Test cricket.
Yadav would be expected to make quick runs in the middle if Rishabh Pant is not available. He is anticipated to be given the opportunity to play naturally, and if he does, the Australian bowlers may struggle to stop him from scoring. Notably, KS Bharat joined Yadav in making his Indian debut in the first Test matchup against the Pat Cummins-coached team.
