Prithvi Shaw, a star batsman for India, ran into controversy on Thursday after a video of him fighting a woman on social media went viral. A disagreement with the captain of the India team that won the 2018 Under-19 World Cup allegedly turned physical, leading to a car chase and a fight with a baseball bat. According to a report by the news agency PTI, the situation began in the early hours of Thursday in a posh hotel after the accused surrounded the cricketer in order to take selfies. The cricketer complied with some of the requests but refused others when they became too frequent.
In the police investigation, eight people have been named for reportedly charging at Shaw and his friend, smashing their car’s glass, and demanding INR 50,000.
