The opening game of the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place on March 31 and feature the defending champion Gujarat Titans taking on the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings. The GT, captained by Hardik Pandya, won the championship the previous season after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the championship game, and they intend to continue their outstanding performance in the competition. This year, the event will be played at 12 different locations thanks to the addition of Dharamsala and Guwahati to the home venues.

The 16th season of the IPL will return to the home and away format, with all clubs playing 7 home games and 7 away games, respectively, in the league stage. The previous edition of the IPL was played in Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad. During the course of 52 days, 12 locations will host a total of 70 league-stage games.

The first doubleheader day of the season will be April 1, 2023, when Punjab Kings will play Kolkata Knight Riders in Mohali and Lucknow Super Giants will play Delhi Capitals in Lucknow. There will be 18 doubleheaders in the IPL 2023, with the day games beginning at 3:30 PM IST and the night games beginning at 7:30 PM IST.
Before playing the remaining home games in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals will play their first two home games in Guwahati. The Punjab Kings will play their first five home games at Mohali before playing their final two home games against the Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals in Dharamshala. The Playoffs and Final schedule and locations will be revealed later. On May 28, 2023, the IPL 2023 championship game will take place.
