The Women’s Premier League is almost ready to kick off, and clubs have started revealing their uniforms for the top women’s T20 competition. Gujarat Giants debuted their uniform on February 26 following the Mumbai Indians’ February 25 kit unveiling.
The Giants took to their Twitter and shared a video that shows their jersey design. “Presenting to you, our jersey for the inaugural @wplt20 season. The glorious jersey depicts the passion & enthusiasm of our lionesses who are set to give it their all in the first-ever season!” the tweet read.
The lioness emblazoned on the right side of the orange shirt symbolizes the players’ fervor and excitement. The name of Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner is imprinted on the back of the item, which is another eye-catching feature. This could be a signal that Gardner will be in charge of the Giants during their maiden season.
On February 25, as the team came together for their first-ever practise, the Giants began preparing for the inaugural WPL season. At the DY Patil Stadium, Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians will square off to start the first season of the WPL on March 4.
Five franchises will face off against one another twice during the league stage of the inaugural season, which will consist of 22 games spread over two locations, Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The team that finishes first in the points standings advances directly to the championship game, while the teams that place second and third compete in the elimination round. The winner of the elimination round advances to the final two.
