MS Dhoni, a former captain of India, has been appointed as JioCinema’s brand ambassador. On the platform, viewers will witness the illustrious Indian batter endorsing network projects. Dhoni inked a professional contract with top media company Viacom18 prior to the commencement of the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will be seen promoting Sports18 and JioCinema on his social media accounts. Interestingly, Viacom18 had already secured the upcoming IPL season’s digital media rights.

Speaking of his most recent contract, the 41-year-old will also appear in a JioCinema advertisement promoting the 2019 IPL season. Excited for his latest signing, the 41-year-old said that digital platforms can offer viewers their desired choices and come with a personalised interface that lets viewers enjoy their favourite game in a way they like.

“I truly believe that watching sports is best enjoyed when you can catch your favourite activity on the go or from the comfort of your own home but with interactivity, choice and personalisation, something that only a digital platform can offer,” said MS Dhoni. He also added, “JioCinema is taking the proposition to a whole new level by engaging with fans in ways one could never think of. I can’t wait to be part of this paradigm shift and what is the future of sports viewing.”

In 2020, the veteran hung his boots from international cricket after featuring for the last time in Indian colours in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final game against New Zealand. Dhoni will rely on his leadership abilities to help his club win the league for a sixth time after Chennai Super Kings’ disastrous performance in the league last year. With four wins and ten losses in the previous IPL, CSK finished in ninth place. In the opening match of the IPL on March 31, CSK will face the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) at Ahmedabad’s illustrious Narendra Modi Stadium.

He might not play in the IPL again after this season, so he wants to go out on top. He didn’t seem to be at his best in the previous three editions of the major competition, but this year, his fans are counting on him to put on a strong showing with his batting and as captain to help Super Kings win the championship for the final time.
