After the first three Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy were finished well within three days of each other, the Team India administration received a lot of flak. Although the International Cricket Council rated the Indore surface in the third Test as “poor,” many questioned the hosts’ choice to prepare rank-turners. An entirely flat surface awaited the two sides for the fourth Test in Ahmedabad. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra tweeted a cryptic message about pitches after observing how difficult it was for Australia to bat on the surface while Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green amassed individual hundreds.
The Ahmedabad wicket was completely different from the surfaces used in the first three Test matches, providing neither pacers nor seamers with much assistance. “One extreme should never be a reason/excuse to justify another extreme,” Chopra tweeted.
